An oldie but a goodie. I grew up on this cheeseburger chowder; a delicious, versatile, and easy weeknight soup that keeps you coming back for more. There’s just something special about foods reminding you of your childhood.
MAMA B'S CHEESEBURGER CHOWDER ALTERNATIVES
You could easily mix and match different variations of cheeseburger chowder.
Here are a few ingredient substitution ideas:
Meat - Swap out the ground beef for chicken, turkey, spicy sausage or simply all bacon.
Vegetables - I left out the celery, but you could easily add this in with peppers, tomatoes or mushrooms. Hashbrowns could be replaced with diced potatoes.
Cheese - a great way to use up what you have in the fridge. I grew up with Velveeta in my moms Cheeseburger Chowder. Add pepperjack for some kick.
Milk - You could use coconut milk, half and half, or unsweetened almond milk.
Broth - Vegetable, beef, or chicken broth would be acceptable.
FREEZING MAMA B'S CHEESEBURGER CHOWDER
This is a great soup to freeze. Place Mama B's Cheeseburger Chowder in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months. Unthaw and reheat. If soup seems thicker than preferred, you can thin out with water or chicken broth.
